Cross Country Opens Season in Mississippi

CLINTON, Miss. – After a three-year hiatus, Stillman College cross country made its return Friday night in the Mississippi College Season Opener at Choctaw Trails.

In men’s action, Desmond Harris finished in the top half of the field to lead the Tigers’ runners with a 5K time of 18:44.76. Quinderrius Malone and Pablo Vallejo were next on the Stillman roster with times of 24:15.38 and 24:25.41. Javonte Benjamin was the Tigers’ fourth with a time of 24:51.66, and Naeem Nicholas rounded out Stillman’s runners with a time of 27:08.84.

Stillman finished 11th among 12 teams in the race, behind Mississippi University for Women and ahead of Tougaloo College. Southern States Athletic Conference foe Blue Mountain College finished fourth.

In women’s action, Andrea Harrison was the only Stillman runner, finishing 62nd overall with a 4K time of 21:14.49.

Stillman cross country will return to action Saturday, Sept. 7 at the University of Montevallo Falcon Classic.�
