Talladega, AL. – Talladega College and No. 4 ranked Faulkner University took the field for a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon where the Tornadoes took game one, 5-3. The second game didn’t go the Tornadoes way however as the Eagles won in extra innings 7-6.

Faulkner scored runs in the first and second innings to take a 3-0 lead but got nothing else off Tornadoes starting pitcher Wilkin Louis (5 innings), and relievers Daniel Castillo (1.2) and David Padillo (.1). Louis (1-0) allowed three runs on six hits with six strikeouts in the starting role. Castillo and Padillo combined for no runs on one hit and four strikeouts.
Talladega scored a single run in the bottom of the third innings and four runs in the sixth innings for the 5-3 victory. Wilkin Louis and Hamlet Flores had two hits apiece. Five Tornadoes batters combined for five hits and three runs scored. Oswaldo Calderon, Manuel Caballero and Julian Lopez together had four RBI’s.

The second game of the day was tied heading going into extra innings but in the ninth inning when Faulkner pushed across two runs on four hits to gain the upper hand and even the series. Talladega scored one run in the bottom of the ninth but wasn’t able to tie or won the game.
Manuel Caballero started for Talladega and allowed four runs on three hits in the first three innings. Robin Ventura steadied the middle innings, allowing two runs in three innings. David Padilla, Luis Berrios, Ricardo Alfonso, and Daniel Castillo combined four hits and two scored in the extra innings.
Julian Lopez had two hits and RBI to lead the Tornadoes. Manuel Caballero and Wilkin Louis combined for two hits and four RBI’s.
Talladega College baseball team will travel to Jacksonville, FL March 2-3 to play Florida National and Edward Waters.
