EUGENE, Ore. – The University of South Alabama’s senior Autavia Fluker concluded her Jaguar collegiate career after competing in the hammer throw at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Saturday afternoon at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. The Bessemer, Alabama, native left it all on the field as she saved her best throw for last with a mark of 64.88m for an 11th place finish in the event.

In her time with the South Alabama program, Fluker has received All-Sun Belt honors seven times and has been voted as the Sun Belt Women’s Most Outstanding Outdoor Field Performer for the past two seasons. She has qualified for the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Regional three times in her career and has broken the school and Sun Belt hammer throw record on three occasions this season. The senior has also won seven of the eight hammer throw events she has competed in this season, highlighted by her career-best throw of 70.02m recorded at the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Regional. 

She has been named the Sun Belt’s Outdoor Field Athlete three times this season and was the first Jaguar since 2012 to reach the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Fluker closed out the season ranked seventh in the nation in the hammer throw.
