MOBILE, Ala. – FC Bayern München (BBL) announced Tuesday the signing of former South Alabama men’s basketball forward Augustine Rubit. Rubit played last season at Zalgiris in the Lithuanian LKL league.

FC Bayern München finished last season fourth in the BBL, going 24-10 and was a quarterfinalist in the Euroleague.

In 38 games last season, he averaged 7.4 points per game and 2.9 rebounds per contest. He helped lead Zagaris to win the league title and the cup. Rubit also played 31 games in the Euroleague where he had 8.1 points and 4.2 rebounds in 19 minutes of action per game.

During the 2019-20 season he played at Olympiacos Piraus in the Greek league. In 26 Euroleague games he recorded 6.0 points per game and 3.0 rebounds.

Rubit has played previously for three other German teams: Ratiopharm Ulm, Brose Bamberg and the Walter Tigers.  In his previous four seasons in the German Bundesliga, Rubit averaged over 10 points a game and at least four rebounds each season.

During his time at USA, Rubit was earned an All-America honorable mention by the Associated Press in 2013, Sun Belt Player of the Year in 2013, Sun Belt Freshman of the Year in 2011, a four-time member of the NABC All-District Team and was named Sun Belt All-Conference from 2011-2014.

Rubit finished his career at South Alabama as the all-time leading rebounder in conference history with 1,183. He averaged 17.0 points and 9.4 rebounds in 2013-14 with 12 double-doubles, while shooting 46.3 percent from the floor. His rebounding average and double-double total were third in the conference, while he ranked fourth in blocks per game (1.4).

The Houston, Texas native also set school marks for career free throws made (550) and attempted (763), and double-doubles (54). He also ranks in USA’s top five in points (1,917, 2nd), field goals made (673, 5th), field goals attempted (1,360, 4th), rebounding average (10.0, 3rd) and blocks (139, 4th).
