MOBILE, Ala. – After completing his first season in the LNB Pro B league with Hermine Nantes, division opponent SLUC Nancy announced on Thursday the new addition of Josh Ajayi for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
Nancy ended last season 21-13 to finish tied for fourth in the Pro B standings, just two games out of first place. Ajayi averaged 10.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in 33 games for Hermine Nantes during the 2020-2021 season.
Ajayi finished third on the team in scoring, making over 56 percent of his attempts from the field and 75 percent from the charity stripe.
In his final season with the Jaguars, Ajayi averaged 14.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest, shooting 56.2 percent from the field and 79.6 percent at the foul line to help South finish 20-11 overall and 13-7 in the Sun Belt Conference after ending the year with an eight-game winning streak.
After leading the league in field-goal percentage while ranking among the top 10 in scoring, rebounding, free-throw percentage and double-doubles — he was second in the final category with eight — he was named first-team all-conference as well as first-team all-district by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Ajayi ended his career at USA with 1,691 points, 829 rebounds, 145 assists, 86 steals and 68 blocked shots, shooting 52.6 percent from the floor and 72.7 percent from the free-throw line while starting 112 of his 124 appearances. He ended up third on the all-time rebounding list in the school’s record books.
