Alabama Soccer Returns Home for Sunday Match Against Utah Valley

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –  The Alabama soccer team (4-5-0) returns home to face Utah Valley (5-3-0) in a Sunday afternoon match, scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at the Alabama Soccer Stadium. The two teams will meet for the first time in program history on the soccer field.

Leading the Tide

  • Kate Henderson tallied her third goal of the season Thursday, scoring in the team’s SEC opener against Ole Miss
  • After Thursday’s game, Henderson leads the team in goals alongside teammate Ashlynn Serepca
  • She also leads the team in points (8) and assists (2)
  • Four members of the Tide have netted multiple goals this season with Felicia Knox and Leah Kunde joining Henderson and Serepca
  • Fourteen Crimson Tide athletes have contributed to the offense

The Season 

  • Sunday’s match against the Wolverines marks the end of non-conference play for the Tide
  • Alabama opened Southeastern Conference competition Thursday with a road match against Ole Miss
  • The Tide has faced two ranked opponents so far this season, battling the No. 1 team in the country FSU on the road before forcing No. 6 TCU into overtime at home
  • In the last four games, Alabama has faced three teams that advanced to last year’s NCAA Tournament in Ole Miss, TCU and Memphis

The Utah Valley Wolverines

  • Utah Valley enters the game after dropping a 4-2 decision to Oklahoma on Thursday
  • Prior to its loss against the Sooners, Utah Valley defeated San Jose State and Boise State 2-0 and 3-0, respectively
  • Heather Stainbrook leads the team with five goals, including one in the team’s last outing against the Sooners, and in points with 12
  • Sadie Brockbank and Amber Tripp pace the team in assists with three on the season
  • The Wolverines qualified for the NCAA Championships where the team advance to the second round
  • Utah Valley also clinched the 2020 WAC Tournament Title with a 1-0 win over Seattle U
