JACKSON, Miss. – The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team dropped 3 sets to #15 Mary Hardin-Baylor in their second match of the day. Alyssa Coats led the team with 10 kills. 
The Panthers fought hard in the first set battling it out with the Crusaders. After a deficit in the beginning of the first set, the Panthers tied the game at 5-5. Three kills from Gigi Fields brought the Panthers out to a 13-10 lead. The Crusaders eventually went on a run taking the set 25-19. 
The Crusaders got an early lead in the second set, putting the Panthers in a tight spot. With almost half of her kills recorded in the set, Alyssa Coats gave the Panthers momentum to hold the Crusaders at set point three times, but ultimately fell 25-18.
The Panthers started off the third set with a lead and kept fighting through most of the set. BSC came up short and Mary-Hardin Baylor took the set 25-14 and defeated Birmingham-Southern 3-0 to win the match.
