BSC FALLS IN CLOSE MATCH TO COVENANT

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team began their 2021 season with a close 3-1 loss to Covenant. Gigi Fields led the team with 17 kills and Kennedy Dickens was right behind with 16.
 
The Panthers started off strong and battled hard in the first set, pushing the Scots into plus 25 play, but ultimately ended in Covenant taking the set 27-25. BSC made an impressive 7 point run in the second set coming back from a 23-16 deficit to tie it up.
 
The Panthers came back in the third set, putting in the work to go on a five-point run to finish off the set 25-19. Freshman Emily Buhl started her collegiate career recording almost half of her kills in the third set to help the Panthers get ahead.
 
Kennedy Dickens recorded a great game with 16 kills and a .433 hitting percentage for the match. Ansleigh Dailey started off her senior season with 48 assists.
