Badgers move to 13-0 in SIAC play

MOBILE, Ala. (October 8, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team continued its perfect run through the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) portion of its schedule with a pair of victories over the Lane College Dragons and the Kentucky State University (KSU) Thorobreds at the SIAC West Division Cluster on Friday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.

SHC held the Dragons (2-8; 6-4 SIAC) to a -.018 (21-23-114) attack percentage with 19 assists, two aces, 52 digs and three (1-4) blocks while building a .234 (38-12-111) attack percentage of their own with 30 assists, five aces, 62 digs and four (1-6) blocks as the Badgers won 25-16; 25-16; 25-10)

Kassandra Fairly had 13 kills and an ace while Jessica Fairly handed out 18 assists. Taylor Fontenelle had 11 digs and Olivia Peyton and three assisted blocks.

The Thorobreds (13-10; 10-2 SIAC) were paced by Robin Poole and Abrielle Jordan with 13 kills each, but the Badgers held on for a 3-1 (25-15; 25-13; 24-26; 25-15) victory. SHC held a .277 (54-13-148) attack percentage with 49 assists, four aces, 67 digs and nine (3-12) blocks as KSU finished with a .124 (46-28-145) attack percentage with 44 assists, three aces, 68 digs and three (1-4) blocks on the night.

The middle hitting Fairly had 16 kills and two aces while the younger setting Fairly distributed 28 assists. Mikayla Boyer had 23 digs while Peyton accumulated four assisted blocks

The Badgers (19-5; 13-0 SIAC) will wrap up play in the 2021 SIAC West Division Cluster II at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Saturday with an 11:30 a.m. match versus the LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) Magicians (3-11; 3-6 SIAC) and a 2 p.m. match with the Central State University (CSU) Marauders (13-4; 7-1 SIAC).
